LAKEVIEW NEWS
JULY, 2009
Presidents Message
What a fantastic weekend it was for our Independence Day celebration! We had great weather, great fun, great food, and great events. The Ice Cream Social and Bingo on Friday night were a hit. (You cant miss with ice cream and treats.) The lodge was packed for the Bingo crowd. Everyone had a great time.
The 4th of July was almost picture perfect. If there is one thing we Lakeview members do right, its the annual BBQ. Everything was good the decorations, the singing, the food, the crowd, the presentation, and the kids games. We couldnt have asked for much better weather for the event.
On Sunday, there was a smaller crowd but still a lot of fun with the fishing contest and horseshoes.
Our next event is the Cabin Crawl scheduled for the evening of August 15th. Its always a fun way to meet people. Also, friends and family get to see a little more of Lakeview. We have a couple of new homes on the tour, including the new caretakers home. Matt and Jennifer want to show off their new digs.
We need someone to coordinate the Leathermans event on Labor Day weekend. This is a Lakeview tradition. We need your help to keep it going. Please contact Elizabeth Hatchett to volunteer.
After 12 long years of service, our Zipper mower has been retired. We will soon have a brand new Zipper mower. We had such great luck with the last one; we decided to stick with the same brand.
I want to thank all the folks who helped make the 4th weekend so successful. There are so many things, some big, some small, that have to be done to make the events come off well. Lakeview is blessed with a community of people who dive in and get things done. It is very much appreciated. And, if you missed out on the 4th, you can always lend a hand with the Cabin Crawl or Leathermans.
See you at the Lake!

Cabin Crawl on August 15
This year, along with several familiar favorites, guests at the Cabin Crawl will tentatively have an opportunity to see inside Matt and Jennifers new home, the Strykers remodeled cabin following storm damage last year, as well as the almost new Cabin 10 near the east end.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the third annual Cabin Crawl set for Saturday August 15, 2009 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
This years event will be organized in a manner similar to the past. There will be a group gathering from 7:00 to 7:30 at the Lodge; Crawl to the cabins from 7:30 thru 9:00 and gather for dessert, coffee; and tour of lodge rooms from 9:00 until 10:00.
Members are encouraged to invite potential new members. Invitations will be mailed and reservations are requested to respond by August 8.
Cabin owners and lodge room renters are asked to participate as hosts for in this years event. It is at the hosts discretion whether to serve food or beverage in their cabin or room.
In addition, volunteers are needed to help decorate the lodge, make appetizers, and serve drinks. To volunteer, please contact Grant Glenn on his cell at 913-488-0759 or grant@wonerglenn.com

Please Hold Off on Burn Pile
Please do not add more fuel to the burn pile until advised. The board has had a contractor try to level the ground for the new concrete enclosure planned for safety and aesthetic (contain and hide) reasons. But we were advised that theres too much left to bury without another burn---and its already a bit big for a controlled burn this time of year. He pushed it all to one spot but please do not
add any more debris---limbs or whatever---until we get this under control. THANK YOU!
BURN PILE UPDATE (Press time addition from Grant Glenn):
We are going to be burning the burn pile in the next four weeks if the weather cooperates and we have enough volunteers for the fire crew.
If you have anything stored in the boat yard, be sure you dont have it parked near the burn pile. There probably wont be time for another reminder, so please park accordingly. If you would be interested in helping with the big burn early some Saturday or Sunday when the winds are calm, please contact Grant Glenn, grant@wonerglenn.com
